The cuisine here is unabashedly centered on the bounty of the sea, with standout dishes that evoke the essence of coastal Essex. Fresh calamari arrives perfectly tender, accompanied by a zesty homemade tartar sauce that complements rather than overpowers. The baked Peterhead cod, paired with lovingly buttered new potatoes, delivers a comforting, home-cooked appeal, showcasing careful preparation and freshness even if some seasoning aficionados might find it a little subtle. For those seeking a show-stopping seafood experience, the much-praised seafood boil is a must-try, bursting with a variety of oceanic treasures served in generous portions.

The drink selection enhances the dining experience with a refined yet approachable array of options. Beer enthusiasts will appreciate the impressive lineup of lagers, including Birra Moretti and Madri, alongside distinctive local drafts from Skinners Brewery such as Betty Stogs and the richly flavored Penny Come Quick stout. Cocktails are artfully crafted, with favorites like the vibrant Strawberry Daiquiri and the sophisticated Espresso Martini injecting a splash of fun and elegance to the meal. For those seeking classic warmth, the Bacardi and Captain Morgan offerings provide a perfect complement to the seafood delights.

What truly sets Essex Oyster Company No 10 apart is the sincere warmth and expertise of the staff. Diners consistently commend their attentiveness and in-depth knowledge of the menu, guiding guests through flavor profiles and oyster varieties with approachable enthusiasm. Despite its somewhat tucked-away location in a small industrial estate, the restaurant exudes a welcoming vibe that makes every visit feel special—a little culinary secret flourishing in Essex’s heart.

While the menu may not always match every online listing perfectly, the authenticity and care in each dish shine through, leaving a lasting impression. Whether you’re savoring a creamy pavlova for dessert or indulging in the indulgently refreshing Summer Knickerbocker Glory, the flavors are designed to delight and satisfy.

In all, Essex Oyster Company No 10 captures the spirit of simple, honest seafood dining elevated by passion and a touch of coastal flair. It is what it is. No airs or graces. The menu is a good length and generally varied choices. The starter was a good calamari with a nice dressing. Main was a baked Peterhead cod with new potatoes. The code was nice slightly lacking in seasoning but well cooked. The potato's were nicely cooked and good butter coating too. The dessert was a pavlova that, even for me was a bit too much cream needed a little more fruit through it s'more meringue less cream. Helpful staff Clean "mixed bathing" toilets. Ps if staff are going to have a conversation about validity of someone not there today's gift card, better not to discuss details including volume of tips on valentines night, out loud.

Absolutely little gem of restaurant in the most unusual location. Staff were knowledgeable of the food and very attentive. The food it self was very flavoursome and would highly recommend a visit.

So happy I found this hidden gem! We arrived very close to the end of working hours for a quick oyster break but still were very welcomed and served. The staff is very nice and friendly, helped with a choice. I tried 3 different "breeds" but my favourite remains the Maldon one, which they also serve. All delicious even in the evening, will definitely be back soon!

Lovely meal today, food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back, but I was disappointed that the menu didn't include items on the web menu, I was looking forward to trying the seafood broil and the lobster mac and cheese.

A lovely little restaurant in Essex. Visited for a quick sea food treat, and we were not disappointed. We reserved a table using quandoo online, and it was quick and easy to book. On arrival, we were shown to our table and immediately given the menus. Drinks arrived promptly, and food came shortly after. The food was nice. I had the sea food boil, and I was not disappointed. Would have loved to have a bit of tiger prawns in it, though, but it was still lovely. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff and guests were very friendly and chatty All in all, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area

Great food, lovely friendly service, unusual location. We liked it.

First time eating in this place. Recommended by a colleague. Tuck away in a small industrial estate in North Benfleet. Has been in operation for 2 years. Nice decor and attentive staff. Seafood restaurant. Had the calamari with home made tartar sauce which was very good. My wife had the panko crusted pawns with sweet chilli sauce which she found to be be very good. For the Mains , my wife has the seafood soup. The depth of taste was very good and generous portions! I have the skate wing which was fresh and tasty and done just right. It was a lovely restaurant and food was excellent. A real find! Price point is also good. A rare find for seafood lovers. They also have a seafood bar in the day time for Wednesday to Sunday. The do breakfast on the weekend. We definitely go there again!
